Whether its keeping track of my dinner dates, my monthly budget or how many more points I need to be VIB at Sephora – I use an app for it all. Here are the ones that made 2019 easier for me:
Headspace
I have to say that Headspace is without a doubt the best app I downloaded in 2019. Along with always wanting to be the girl who carried acute planner around, I’ve always wanted to be a girl who mediates. I tried plenty of times, but I would sit there in silence, breathe in and relax for about 30 seconds before life’s trials and tribulations would fill my mind and I would be too distracted to focus. Then I found Headspace and I’m OBSESSED. I tried the free trial and very much expected to cancel before the first charge hit – the exact opposite happened. I truly love this app and cannot sleep without it.
When I’m feeling stressed out, I do a quick guided meditation and feel much more at ease. When I can’t sleep – I put on a sleep cast – stories that slightly change every night and help you drift off into dreamland. If you’re like me and have trouble forgetting the worries of the day when its time to wind down, Headspace is for you.
Productive
I’ve never been able to stick to a New Years Resolution. I’ll do it for about a week or two, then always fall short. Whether its to read more, hit the gym more or start a new habit – I need to be held accountable. Then I downloaded Productive. You input the new habits you want to create, whether its something simple like making your bed every morning – or a loftier goal of losing weight or quitting smoking. A reminder pops up at a set time of your choosing and you swipe when it’s complete. It seems so simple, but that little reminder has made all the difference for me.
Set a wide range of goals, from taking control of your finances, scheduled self-care moments or a weekly reminder to wipe down all your countertops. This app has made SO much better at keeping these habits, which has turned me into a much better (but still improving) version of myself. 🙂
Mint
Speaking of trying to be a better version of myself – something i need to stop doing is spending money like a sugar high, unsupervised child in the toy aisle. Sometimes I take the “7 Rings” lyrics “I want it, I got it..” a bit too seriously. Until I downloaded Mint, I had zero budget. I would get my paycheck – transfer some to my savings and then buy clothes, shoes and take advantage of Uber Eats. Then at the end of every week, I would say the same thing, “Where the f*ck is all my money going????”
Now that I have Mint, I know where it’s going!! It’s made me way more cautious about frivolous spending and now I feel very happy and secure with my growing savings account. Learn to budget in 2020 and your stress level will drop immensely!
Trello
My bff and website designer Katerina introduced me to Trello. It has saved my life in terms of organization with both work and my personal life. It’s a great space to have all your notes, to-do lists, and tasks in one simple, clean space. You make note cards with all of your tasks, put everything in categories – just do yourself a favor and check it out.
I use this for both my day job, blogging, and my personal things, like Christmas gifts, shopping lists or keeping track of bars or restaurants I want to try.
Podcasts
Ok, so I know the podcast app is already on your phone. I just LOVE podcasts. I listen to them on my way to work, on the treadmill and before bed. I just want to share a few of my favorites pods for you to try out:
