Here are some of the steps I take to get myself feeling back to normal after a super fun weekend:
REPLACE THOSE ELECTROLYTES BABY
Electrolytes support hydration and help the body produce energy. They’re also responsible for stimulating muscle contractions, including those that keep your heart beating, so yeah, a lil bit important. After spending the weekend sipping on beer, seltzers or whatever else you grabbed, you might be a bit depleted in the electrolyte department. Here are some of the easiest things to consume to get your body feeling back to normal
And sooo many more. Also please drink a SH*T TON of water!!!
BLEND BLEND BLEND THAT SMOOTHIE
Smoothies are an awesome way to wake up, reset and get your belly back on track after stuffing your face with chips, dip, pizza or anything else that was floating around your Superbowl Party. (And don’t feel guilty about that – it was worth it and you had a great time!) Start fresh with a fan favorite detox smoothie that’ll get you feeling as good as TB12. Alcohol flushes vitamins from your body. So now’s the time to load up on ‘em.
1 green apple
2 cups baby spinach
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbsp honey
¼ tsp cinnamon
1 cup almond milk
Ice ice baby + blend
WERK WERK WERK IT OUT
I know. I KNOW. It’s the last thing you want to do. But it really will help you feel better. Allow yourself to go through the stages: bitching about working out, wanting to die the entire time, then feeling like a beautiful, ethereal fitness goddess when you’re done. Go for a nice walk, a light jog or lift some light weights. Don’t go crazy – but get your body moving and feeling more back to normal.
DE-PUFF IN A HUFF
You’re probably looking a bit puffier this morning. To get that swelling down, try some jade rolling. Roll your under eyes, jawline and all over. This will help drain any excess fluid from the weekend and get your cheekbones poppin’ back out, Bella Hadid style. You can also go old school and pop some cucumbers on your eyes (and take a cute selfie while you’re at it.) Cucumbers release quercetin, a flavonoid antioxidant that helps reduce swelling. Pop ‘em on for 10 or so minutes and de-puff quickly.
There are so many more things you can do to make yourself feel better. Pop in a movie and veg out on the couch after all this, have some fruit, do a face mask, or take a much needed nap. The biggest thing is to get yourself back on track for a happy, healthy weekend before the weekend comes again. Then just refresh this page next Monday and start over, LOL!
